About Gansu

Gansu, which belonged to Yongzhou in ancient times, is located in the upper reaches of the Yellow River. It is connected with Shaanxi in the East, Bashu and Qinghai in the south, Xinjiang in the west, Inner Mongolia and Ningxia in the north. It is the key and golden section of the ancient Silk Road.

It is like a piece of precious jade inlaid in the Loess Plateau, Qinghai Tibet Plateau and Inner Mongolia Plateau in Central China. It winds more than 1600 kilometers from east to west, covering a total area of 425900 square kilometers (including 53.22 square kilometers of enclaves in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region).

Gansu is derived from the initials of Ganzhou (now Zhangye) and Suzhou (now Jiuquan). Gansu military department was set up in Xixia Dynasty and Gansu Province was set up in Yuan Dynasty; Because most of the province is to the west of Longshan (Liupan Mountain), and Longyou road was set here in the Tang Dynasty, it is also called Longyou road for short.

They have unique folk customs and customs. The Labrang temple not only has exquisite buildings, but also has seven large-scale religious meetings and numerous festivals every year, which makes the religious and folk activities of Labrang Temple unprecedented rich and colorful. The simple and elegant Linxia mosque is a gathering place for Muslims. The religious and folk activities here are unique and grand.

Qingyang and Pingliang areas in the east of Gansu Province are old districts with a long history of revolution. In addition to many revolutionary relics, the Emperor Huang has been on the site of Kongtong mountain, the Taoist holy land where guangchengzi practiced the Tao, and the Wangmu palace mountain, which was served by the Western Wang mother, and the temple fairs such as Gongliu temple and bodhishan, etc., which served the king of Zhou Mu, have become the place for people to spread culture and trade places for folk economy. Especially suona, paper cutting, social fire, opera and other folk culture have special charm.

Hexi Corridor is a famous granary in Gansu Province, as well as the ancient battlefield of tiemajinge and the main traffic route of the ancient Silk Road. The world-famous folk customs of Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, Yugur customs in Sunan, Mongolian customs in Subei, Aksai customs, Tianzhu Tibetan customs, Leitai wonders, legend of ancient Jiuquan, legend of Jiayuguan, Yumen pass and Guyang pass, Qiaowan renpi drum, folk Banyue, camel team and so on are shining here.
